Bruno Mars is a singer and songwriter known for his pop and R&B style music. Born Peter Gene Hernandez, Mars was born and raised in a family of music in Hawaii. His mother was a singer and dancer and his father was a musician, so it was no surprise when he he found his place in music as a child. Surrounded by music from a young age, Mars claims a variety of musical influences which helped him to create a style of his own. He is known for his vocals as well as his work with drums, keyboard, guitar, bass guitar, piano, and harmonica. He had a brief contact with Motown Records before signing with Atlantic Records. Before releasing his debut album, Do-Wops & Hooligans, Mars co-wrote the song Right Round, which was performed by Flo Rida. His songs have recently been featured on the soundtracks for the movies Just Go With It, Get Him to the Greek, and The Karate Kid.
