Christiano Ronaldo (born Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro) is a portugese soccer player. He plays winger or striker. He signed his first professional soccer contract at the age of 10. He is the first person to play for Sporting’s Under 16, Under 17, Under 18, B-team, and A team in one season. Cristiano Ronaldo gained the attention of Manchester United when the team he was playing for beat Man U in an exhibition. The Man U players encouraged their manager to sign him to a contract. Ronaldo was Man U’s first ever Portugese player. In April 2007, he signed a new contract with Man U that made him the team’s highest paid player ever. In 2009, Ronaldo transferred to Real Madrid. In international play, Ronaldo played for Portugal in the 2002 and 2008 Euro Cup tournaments. He also played in the 2006 and 2010 World Cup tournaments. Ronaldo won the Premier League championship with Man U 3 years streaight (2006-07, 07-08, and 08-09.) He’s been named to the Team of the Year 5 times. In 2008, Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or, Onze d’Or, FIFA Player of the Year, and was named World Soccer Player of the Year.
