Drake is a rapper, singer and actor. He was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on October 24, 1986. In the beginning of his entertainment career he was known for playing Jimmy Brooks on “Degrassi: The Next Generation”. He did 138 episodes on the show in nine years. He then had a role in the TV movie, “Degrassi Spring Break Movie”. In 2011, it was in the works for Drake to be in the cast of the film “Arbitage”, but decided to decline the part in order to pursue a musical career. In 2006, he released his first music “Room for Improvement”, on a mixtape which was available on his MySpace and his website. He released his second mixtape, “Comeback Season”, which consisted of a video and a single in 2007. Some of Drake’s music was given to Lil Wayne by Jas Prince, Rap-A-Lot’s son. Lil Wayne liked it so much, he asked Drake to go on tour with him. The two men recorded some music together during that time. In 2009, he released his most successful mixtape, “So Far Gone”, which included Lil Wayne. It took off and was downloaded over 2,000 times in two hours. It was named by MTV as, “The hottest Mixtape of 2009”. After that time he began working with some of the best in the business including Eminem, Young Money, Mary J. Blige, Jamie Foxx and many others. Drake attained fame before ever signing with a record label. The songs “Best I Ever Had” and “Every Girl” were in the third and tenth places on the Hot 100 Billboard. After that, Drake finally signed a record deal with Young Money Entertainment. His first album, “Thank Me later”, was released in 2010. Drake put on a free concert to celebrate the release of the album, but 25,000 fans showed up and police had to shut down the show because of the excessive crowd.
