This animated feature, which brought comedian Jack Black back to voice the title character, kicked off the summer movie season when it was released during the last weekend of May 2011. All of the actors who voiced characters in the 2008 original reprised their roles for the sequel. They include Angelina Jolie as Tigress, Jackie Chan as Monkey, Seth Rogen as Mantis, Lucy Liu as Viper and Dustin Hoffman as Master Shifu. In addition, Gary Oldman joined the cast, lending his voice to the new villain of the movie, Lord Shen. In this installment Po the panda uses his martial arts to help prevent the conquest of China. The film was originally released in 3D and surpassed the original "Kung Fu Panda" in its box office receipts. In praising the movie, some critics said it was superior to the original with an ambitious continuation of the story. "Kung Fu Panda 3" is planned, along with three other films in the franchise.
